Coco Malou - how it all started
If you're looking for the perfect underwear - which should be fair and sustainable, but still pretty - and you just can't find it, you have two options: accept it or take care of it yourself.
I definitely didn't want to put up with that.
Aesthetic, feminine underwear, with filigree lace and fine materials has always fascinated me, but supporting the conventional fashion industry was no longer an option for me. Both the questionable production conditions on the other side of the world and the materials used in most lingerie were reasons for me to avoid fast fashion lingerie. Instead, I wanted fair and transparent production from sustainable, skin-friendly ingredients. This is how Coco Malou came about!
I'm Corinna, the founder of the Stuttgart start-up. Since 2015, I have been sharing thoughts and inspiration for a more sustainable lifestyle on my blog & Instagram account, Pillow and Karma, because once you take a closer look at the reality of the fashion industry, you can no longer look away. Fair fashion therefore became my focus, but especially when it came to underwear, there was simply not enough choice for me. Too simple, too eco, just not comfortable or my taste. So in 2018 I decided to change that and start my own business. Quit my secure job and embarked on this adventure - a dip in the deep end.
After many months of research, pattern development, supplier search, sample creation, selection of the production facility and a successfully financed crowdfunding campaign on Startnext, the time had finally come in June 2019: Coco Malou was launched on the market! It's been a long road to get here. I now have a small, wonderful team that supports me, and together we have a lot planned. You may be curious. :)
